Our History
The Rotary Club of Bayswater Inc was chartered on 7th April 1961.
Members are community minded business and professional people who believe in the ideals of Rotary, which involves “Service above Self”. Numerous fundraising projects over the years have allowed us to raise over $500,000 to assist deserving individuals, families, schools and needy causes both locally and internationally.
All money raised by Rotarians is used for charitable causes and our voluntary manpower means that no money raised is ever used for administrative purposes.
Our annual Knox Art Show has been going for 41 years and is now our major fundraising event each year.
Rotary International has had two major projects over recent years – the eradication of polio around the world and the eradication of malaria. The Polio Eradication Project received a boost a couple of years back when the Bill Gates Foundation provided $US100 million to complete the task. Rotary International, through its members, is matching this amount as part of the deal.
Members over the years have included men and women of all ages and walks of life. All prospective members who believe in the ideals of Rotary are welcomed as new members of our Club. As the oldest Rotary Club in this area, we are always seeking new ideas and membership growth to help us meet our goals.
